History is about stories. Real people. True events. Profound emotion.
That’s what I love about studying history—the narratives.
The stories affected me so profoundly that I got my PhD in history, and I’ve written two books: The Color of Compromise and The Spirit of Justice all about history.
What if you could learn Black history from a Black historian during Black History Month?
Let’s start a conversation about your event.

What People Are Saying…
"The MTSO community was thrilled to have Dr. Tisby among us. From the meal to the conversation, everyone was engaged."
-Methodist Theological School in Ohio
Dr. Tisby possesses an astounding ability to dig into the history of our nation’s troublesome past and connect that history with policies and customs that are adversely impacting our social, religious, and political realities today.
Rev. Keith Caldwell, Centenary Baptist Church
With the incision of a prophet, the rigor of a professor, and the heart of a pastor, Jemar Tisby offers a defining examination of the history of race and the church in America. Comprehensive in its scope of American history, Tisby presents data that provides the full truth and not a sanitized version that most American Christians have embraced.
Soong Chan Rah, North Park Theological Seminary
'Thank you to Dr Tisby for the powerful knowledge!' ... 'Gratitude for the transparency and clarity' ... 'Thanks for bringing some humanity to these words and concepts we come across. Much appreciated.' ... 'Dr. Tisby, thank you for this incredible and forever impactful session. I ordered your book and can't wait to read and share with my family and friends. God bless you and your wisdom and truth!' ... 'Thank you ALL for this session. So powerful and insightful!'

If you’d like to start your Black History Month learning right now for you and the young people in your life, pre-order I Am the Spirit of Justice and Stories of the Spirit of Justice.
My congregation is doing an all generation event focused on Spirit of Justice books. Our Racial Justice Team is purchasing age appropriate books for our families with kids and planning a Saturday event to include music, art, activities based on the books and hopefully food. The adults will also discuss the adult version. We’re very excited.
Jemar, how might I inquire about your availability for an event? Not to book it yet. To ask you about it.
