As a charter member, with Native heritage, of the National Museum of the American Indian, I am apoplectic at this latest power grab by the Trump Administration. I feel the same way about all the Smithsonian museums, which I've enjoyed immensely through the years. If I thought standing in the NMAI doorway would stop this vile "review," I'd pack up my walker and get on a train for Washington. As it is, I'll do all I can to defend our truthful multicultural history against white Christian nationalism.

Jemar,

Thank you for speaking these sobering truths about our history especially African American history.

Last fall, I was able to do a mini civil right tour. In Montgomery AL, I visited all three sites of the incredible Legacy Museum developed by The Equal Justice Initiative. There are not enough words to describe the impact these museums have had on my life. Every part of each museum was packed full of truthful information about the history of slavery in this United States. It is a must visit for every American in my opinion. The entire complex was so well run, first class in every way. The charge is only $5 (with opportunity to donate more which I gladly did). That included admission into all three sites as well as transportation between each site.

We must speak the truth the good, the bad and sometimes ugly parts of our American history.

Thank you for speaking truth time and time again Jemar!

This is one more attack on public history. It took many decades to build this profession and the Cult is breaking it in weeks. To see PragerU as a public history replacement is insulting.

Agreed 100% Jemar. Look at it this way: based on fossils, scientists say humans appeared on the earth 2-6 million years ago. Creationists believe humanity is 6,000 years old. Either way, the myth of 'white' supremacy is only 500 years old. It was created to justify one group's belief that it has the right to plunder, oppress and dominate the others based on levels of melanin(!). This is an anomaly of the human experience. (Sadly, for a shot at restoring this myth many, like Esau in the Bible, in November 2024 sold their birthright and democracy in exchange for a pot of toxic stew that is starting to poison them and their children as well!)

Let us use every means we can to counteract lies. Your books and work Jemar are a crucial. I just finished Unsettling Truths: The Ongoing, Dehumanizing Legacy of the Doctrine of Discovery, written by Mark Charles (American Navajo author) and Soong-Chan Rah, American theologian. Rooted in the lies of Christendom Christian Nationalists are trying to promote; in truths such as the 'real' reason Abraham Lincoln liberated enslaved Black people; and the truth that removal of Native American nations from their land was genocide and ethnic cleansing, this book is a must-read!

Let us educate ourselves and the next generation before Nationalist lies take root further. Fight for your museums. Remember, we are in the 21st century., not the Dark Ages as they believe. If you have to use tiktok to spread truth do it, but since CNs are fast dominating media, revisit old tried but trues like leaflets! (Check out the CARD CAMPAIGN https://cc4democracy.com/. )

For Americans its the fight of your lives. But you fought for and won your independence as a republic. You have deposed other countries' dictators. You have influenced even people like me from a tiny island somewhere out there, to believe in American exceptionalism. You can do this!

Yes. And also it's at least about limitless governmental power (so much for being "conservative"), treating public service as a private business (it's core purpose is to increase market share and maximize profit), and as you point out, treating history and "freedom" as propaganda (so much for free speech, press, and of association and religion). The bully who occupies our presidency continues to hollow out our nation's institutions of their legitimacy.

Jemar, thank you for staying upfront in this war on truth.
