Justice 250
This cohort of The Justice Journey is right on time
This will be an eventful summer.
We have Juneteenth and then, just a couple weeks later, we have the 250th Fourth of July anniversary.
These events have alway stood in relation and in tension, but this year especially so.
Juneteenth represents emancipation from race-based chattel slavery. It is an occasion to celebrate genuine progress in the country, and a time when we truly formed a “more perfect union.”
The Fourth of July has always highlighted the tension between liberty and land theft, freedom and slavery.
This year, however, it takes on new significance because it is the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
We can be sure this White House will continue pushing a mythical past and a whitewashed history.
The propaganda that the United States was founded as a “Christian nation” will reach a crescendo this summer.
Last weekend the White House hosted Rededicate 250 to “prepare for the nation’s 250th birthday with Scripture, testimony, prayer, and rededication of our country as One Nation to God.”
Coming up are the Patriot Games National Competition—“a groundbreaking national competition celebrating high school athletes from every U.S. state and territory.”
It’s designed to foster friendly competition, but under this regime it just sounds like a real world version of the Hunger Games.
And, most chilling to me as a historian, the Freedom Truck Mobile Museums. These are “historical” displays put together by the right-wing content mill, PragerU.
They feature “A fleet of six custom-designed semi-trucks is traveling the country, inviting millions of Americans to experience and learn from American history like never before.”
Do you really want to endure this onslaught of misinformation and white Christian nationalism alone?
You don’t have to.
The next cohort of The Justice Journey: A Biblical Guide to Making Wrong Things Right, starts on June 2.
We meet weekly for eight weeks and that time period will span both Juneteenth and July 4.
There is no better time to be in community with others who believe that justice is not a distraction from the gospel but a demonstration of the gospel.
This time, it’s not simply The Justice Journey. It’s Justice 250.
In The Justice Journey we’ll explore:
Session 1: Justice in the Story of God
Session 2: What is Justice?
Session 3: Naming Injustice
Session 4: Small Group Collaboration
Session 5: Truth and Liberation
Session 6: A Legacy of Justice
Session 7: How to Do Justice
Session 8: Gratitude & Sending Ceremony
We meet weekly on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:30pm ET starting June 2. Can’t join us live? Have to miss a session? You’ll receive a recording the next day!
The heart of the course is the small groups.
Each week you join 4-6 other people to discuss the material we’ve been learning. It’s the same group each week. They quickly become “your people.”
Whether you already have a group that feels like home and you want to broaden it, or you’re still looking for one—The Justice Journey is for you.
Early bird registration opens Monday (5/25) for paid subscribers ($250). General admission ($300) opens on Wednesday (5/27).
Spots go fast. Last year, our first cohort sold out in 24 hours, so we added another and that sold out just as quickly!
The first step is to put your name on the waitlist and you’ll be the first to know when the course opens up.
You will never regret making an investment in your own justice journey and the meeting new people along the way.
This course isn’t just about content, it’s about community.

JUSTICE 250 is my next protest sign!!
I am a paid subscriber and I would like to subscribe to Justice 250. How similar or different is it from last year's Justice Journey class?
