The Derek Chauvin Verdict Is One Victory in a Much Longer Struggle
Jemar comments on the Derek Chauvin verdict live on CNN's New Day.
On April 20, 2021, former police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of three charges related to the murder of George Floyd.
The guilty verdict where a white police officer was convicted of murdering a Black civilian is the first such outcome in Minnesota history.
For such a momentous event, most of us experienced a mix of emotions. Joy, relief, gratitude. But also frustration and fatigue.
We know that this is just one of countless cases of anti-Black police brutality. In most of those circumstances, the offending police officer will go free. There is so much more work left to do.
I got to comment for a few minutes on CNN’s New Day about the verdict in the Derek Chauvin case. Watch the video and let me know what you think!
P.S. I was on at 5 am! Do not recommend. :-)
