Stephen Colbert, host of The Late Show on CBS, is known for tackling difficult political and social topics with a sense of humor. He has been outspoken about his Catholic faith and upbringing and incorporates a thoughtful religious analysis in his interviews and observations.
Well, what if there was an evangelical Stephen Colbert?
Probably the closest you’ll find, at least as far as interview styles, is Phil Vischer.
If that name rings a bell, it’s probably because Phil is best known as the creator of the very popular animated children’s program Veggie Tales. He has recently taken a running leap into the deep end of race and politics.
His 18-minute video, “Race in America”, went viral and has garnered 1.4 million views to date.
Phil invited me to be on his Holy Post podcast this week. We talked about my second book, How to Fight Racism. Beyond discussing the content of the book, Phil did an excellent job of playing the role of “racial justice resister” (as I call them in the book) all while keeping it lighthearted.
You’ll learn not only about the book, but you’ll also come away with some talking points to address frequent objections to racial justice. Also featured on the show is David French talking about Southern shame culture.
Give it a listen and let me know what you think in the comments!
P.S. We’re starting a How to Fight Racism book study club on Facebook. Grab your copy of the book and let’s go through it together. We start February 1. SIGN UP today!
P.P.S. This is the second time I’ve been on the Holy Post podcast. Check out my first interview about The Color of Compromise. Tune in HERE.
