Thank you for this very helpful explanation of white Christian nationalism. The "permission structure" definition makes a lot of sense. Also thanks for ending on a note of hope, that wcn shouldn't lead us to despair. My knee jerk desire is to tune out for sanity's sake, especially during the next two years. You know, cover my ears and do the "la la la" thing when I hear people connecting God’s name to agendas quite contrary to what’s communicated in the Bible, the book many self-proclaimed Christian nationalists claim to embrace. Tuning out is not productive and not the way forward, however, and I’m looking forward to the continuation of this series.
Yours is a great witness and a light unto our souls. This was a brilliantly succinct explanation of an issue I have been studying for some years. My initial readings were Michelle Goldberg, Esther Kaplan, Gil Alexander-Moegerle, et al. Our church connected group has done a study using your Color of Compromise leading to a community wide (Keyser WV) Juneteenth event and more. Thank you! I look forward to following this series.
