It’s been two weeks since Charlie Kirk was murdered in a violent, tragic way.
I condemn his murder and political violence.
Charlie Kirk should still be alive.
Yet the fact that we’re still talking about it in this era of the 24-hour news cycle is a testament to the importance of this event.
It has become more than a mere headline, it’s a moment.
A moment that is revealing some disturbing dynamics in the church.
I am seeing new waves of:
Hate
Violence
Ignorance
Racism
Division
White Christian Nationalism
In tonight’s Substack Live, I talk in-depth about what this moment has wrought among Christians.
I talk at-length about the Lost Cause and its relation to what we saw at the Charlie Kirk memorial service.
I also talk about the historical Black church and how it is still the ark of refuge, not only for Black people, but potentially for white people as well.
And, in a Holy Spirit moment, we held space to grieve another wave of relationships that were ruptured by this event—the people we once trusted but can’t anymore.
We also had our largest group yet—more than 500 people tuned in live.
