I was recently part of a meeting that shared a very non-technical study that showed how mentions of the phrase “Christian nationalism” spiked after the January 6, 2021 insurrection and again after politicians such as Marjorie Taylor Greene talk about embracing Christian nationalism as a positive good.

I was also part of a group that tried to encourage the January 6th Committee investigating the insurrection to make Christian nationalism part of their inquiry.

White Christian nationalism is finally becoming gaining the attention it deserves. And we need to talk about it because white Christian nationalism is the greatest threat to democracy and the witness of the church in the United States today.

But questions about white Christian nationalism abound: What is it? Who is a white Christian nationalist? What do we stand against this dangerous ideology?

We have to understand white Christian nationalism in order to resist it. That is why I am thrilled to introduce a new podcast mini-series: White Nation Under God, an in-depth exploration of this ideology and what we can do about it.
