It's Time to Hold Far-Right Christian Colleges Accountable
My interview with the professor who may lose his job for teaching about racial justice.
I do my best to keep you informed of the latest and most relevant racial justice news. Would you be opposed to supporting this effort by becoming a paid supporter today?
When I first spoke to Professor Samuel Joeckel of Palm Beach Atlantic University, I had to ask him right away: Why did you do it? Why did you decide to go public?
His answer was both simple and profound: Accountability.
Professor Joeckel may lose his job because he taught a unit on racial justice in his freshman composition class. One parent complained to the president of the university, and a short time later the dean and provost told Professor Joeckel that his contract would not be renewed pending an investigation of his syllabus to make sure he wasn’t “indoctrinating” students.
If there is any risk of indoctrinating it is coming from college and university administrators that would rather shut down honest dialogue about race than appear “woke” in front of donors or parents.
I got to interview Professor Joeckel and ask him all about this stressful experience that may result in him being fired from a school he’s worked at for over 20 years.
It’s a massive risk, but as Professor Joeckel told me, it’s time to hold Christian colleges and universities accountable for their complicity with racism.

Very nice interview.
I lost my tenure and was forced to retire early when I spoke out about the racism in the administration’s treatment of my black female colleague at the conservative Christian college where we worked.
