I love these columns and Jack hammering justice. Seems like an appropriate way to think about what’s happening. I am a paid subscriber and I appreciate your videos. Your participation with the others in The Convocation Unscripted and your book. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Janine from Portland, Oregon

I think Trump has no solutions, so he tries to erase significant problems. That monument captured history and pointed out the work that still needs to be done. This lazy president can’t make it go away by ignoring it. The real work of addressing the problems of racism in our country WILL be done. Black people will be seen and heard and not erased!

Yay for Telos trip in Selma! Very sad for the jackhammering over BLM Plaza. I'm lamenting & noted my picture of BLM Plaza in my racial autobiography/messy-mini-memoir. I also lament the name-changes back to Confederate names. White-centering & white-worship is in the "white house" & giving a platform to all stuff "whitewashed." For my faith, Micah 3 stands out to me, including verse 9

":Should you not know justice?—

2 you who hate the good and love the evil,

9 Hear this, you rulers ....and chiefs ....

who abhor justice and pervert all equity...."

I wrote this line in my notebook yesterday (I'm hoping it was God-inspired!): "Words can be abolished...truth cannot.".

I was thinking then of the hunt to excise from our lexicon any words that might open the door for people to see themselves in each other's humanity: Words like "DEI"; "CRT"; "equity"; "diversity", etc. It seems "empathy" might inevitably join the list as well.

How ironic that a government would spend more than $600,000 to jackhammer away 3 simple words: 'Black Lives Matter'.

Take courage my friends: the words are gone...but the truth remains and will never die. The "Spirit of Justice" lives on.

Besides being a national tragedy, and a sign of where the administration's heart really is... why hasn't someone pointed out to the orange dude that he could save over half a million by just leaving it there???

I am not shocked… but I am so appalled. The news of each day is like a stabbing that you knew was coming but could do nothing to avoid.

I pray. I vote (via absentee ballot because we live overseas). I donate. But I feel rather helpless to actually impact a reversal of these atrocities. There must be a way to restore democracy and empathy and common sense?! Does it all have to crumble in order to be rebuilt? I’m so sorry, US of A.

I feel that clearing the Black Lives Matter plaza is Trump's way at laughing at all who support DEI as well as believe in the equality of all people. It's intentional, it stings, it's obviously racist. But I fear the underlying message that Hate is Back, Hate is OK. Hate is sanctioned by the Prrsident of the United States.

I like the videos, but I also enjoy your writing. You're such a natural teacher!

I grieve every time I see another erasure. It's idolatry -- white nationalism. Continuing to pray, to call politicians, to connect with others and speak the truth. Thank you for your hard work.

Thank you so much for this video. I am upset about the erasure, it is a disgrace. Your ability to put it into historical context is very helpful. I’m sorry for the horrible backsliding we are experiencing due to lies, prejudice, white christian nationalism and the slowness of people like me (white, middle class, semi-evangelical) to wake up to what was going on in our country. Thank you for your perseverance, Dr Tisby, it is a great witness. George Floyd Square here in Minneapolis is still up. There is a lot of discussion about how and how much to rebuild it. I’m glad the city is not even talking about tearing it down.

I feel sorry for our leaders who know this stuff is wrong but end up licking his boots anyway. It's easy to say, "They should . . ." but I wonder what I would do in their shoes. How can we empower them to stay strong and resist?

Did we miss Office Hours last night? Or is it every other month? I didn't see anything.

Call your leaders, email them, send them notes, let them know that you expect them to be strong in the face of these maddening decisions. You are being very kind, but really, they don’t “end up” licking his boots, they are getting down on their knees and making a decision to do so. As your elected officials you have a say, let them know what you think.

Shared this video with our overseas voters here in Munich. Will never have the opportunity of seeing this monument live now, but it will be documented by living witnesses and hopefully written about long after this destructive empire falls.

I love your videos. Sometimes it must be very painful to talk about these acts of hatred and yes I agree, they are trying to erase history. Their attacks on DEI make me feel ill and angry. If I did not totally rely ony Lord Jesus and His Word I would go crazy. Your truthfulness helps my thoughts and hopes to be more focused. Thank you for sharing your heart with people. I so appreciate it.

Thank you for the video content. It is much appreciated. As I seek to untether myself from IG, having access to your occasional video content here, as opposed to mainly seeing it on IG, is helpful towards the process of leaving.

Where have all the Christians gone? Long time passing!

Where have all the Christians gone? Long time ago!

Where have all the Christians gone???

Who will stand? Not we said they, for we shall follow our savior and king! For only Trump "can fix it."

DC has no representation in the Senate and a non voting member in Congress. “Taxation without representation.”

Horrific display of hate to remove Black Lives Matter.
