Economic parity requires effort and so many folks have a scarcity mindset. The next four years will be like swimming up stream, as we all continue the work we’re called to- thankful for how well you execute your heart and art.

I am researching UGRR connection to my church. Donations to the Freedmen's Bureau are documented in church ledgers. Can someone tell me how to find the Bureau's records? Thank you

So wonderful that your church donated & documented! Is this helpful? https://www.archives.gov/research/african-americans/freedmens-bureau

I took a guided tour of the UGRR in Lancaster & York counties, PA with Randy Harris, LancasterHistory. (I really recommend tours!) I wonder if LancasterHistory may have info. LancasterHistory & Randy Harris: https://www.lancasterhistory.org/visit/group-tours/ugrr/ (I appreciated seeing the work in progress for the Thaddeus Stevens & Lydia Hamilton Smith Ctr for History & Democracy within the Lanc. Convention Center, which the 47th pres' rally-goers walked past: https://stevensandsmithcenter.org/) Dr. Tisby includes Thaddeus Stevens in the "The Spirit of Justice."

I have a question truly based on an anew president. What will it mean for so many organizations to say they are eliminating DEI policies. It really feels ominous.

Grateful to keep learning from you, Dr. Tisby, incl about Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr to challenge us today--beyond the popular (whitewashed) quotes.

“Building Black Wealth,” MN Governor's Council Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration (Gov. Tim Walz, speaks minute 41, PBS, 2023) https://www.pbs.org/video/mn-governors-council-martin-luther-king-jr-day-celebration-6uz92b/

During 2024 V.P. Candidates' Debate, Tim Walz shared a quote from his faith--when done for the least of these, it's done for me (Matt 25:40)

“Only in the darkness can you see the stars.” ― Martin Luther King, Jr., https://bookhaven.stanford.edu/2012/01/martin-luther-king-on-his-day-only-in-the-darkness-can-you-see-the-stars/

It encouraged me to learn that friend Morenike (from whom I learned about Dr. Jemar Tisby!) happened to meet Martin Luther King III on the eve of Morenike's bday & the 2025 nat'l holiday honoring Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr. I love the photos! This post encouraged me to notice the good amidst each day--one's birthday too! https://elevatinggoodpod.substack.com/p/mlk-day-and-the-truth-as-offense
