I sat through the awful address that Trump gave before Congress, the first such speech he has given during his second term.
There were so many lies and self-serving, grandiose statements that I couldn’t possibly debunk all of them in a single article.
Plus, going point-by-point through his statements would be a disproportionately serious response to his vapid word salad.
Instead, I’m focusing on overall impressions and what this speech signals in broader terms.
I’m calling my reflections on Trump’s speech- “The Apprentice: White House Edition”.
This was not so much a presidential address as a performance. When we look at Trump we should not primarily see him as an elected official but as an actor playing a role to feed his own insatiable appetite for attention.
I break all of this down in this brief video.
This video is part a new effort on my part to use multimedia more often to teach and communicate.
It is not intended, at this point, to be a highly produced project. It is designed to be personal, conversational, informative, and dynamic.
I appreciate you watching, and would be glad to hear your thoughts on both my use of video more and the content in the comments below!
