"Banned book lists" generally encourage students to read those books. I've spend a lot of my adult life trying to learn what was NOT included in history books. What are they so afraid of?
I totally agree with your love for books as a child. I would spend hours in the stacks at my small town public library perusing and choosing my next books to check out! I learned how to read as a preschooler because my mother sat me in her lap to read books to/with me. I did the same with my children. Books open your mind to new ideas and worlds!
