Two weeks from today, on October 12, I’m engaging the “paid” subscriptions feature on Substack.
There are so many reasons that go into this decision:
I got my PhD
I quit my dream job
I dove into writing as my central work
And that’s just the beginning!
I want you to be part of this journey with me. If you’ve appreciated the content I’ve posted on this newsletter, then you’ll really enjoy the “backstage pass” kind of experience that being a paid subscriber gives you. From exclusive content to live video chats with me, it will be a one-of-a-kind experience.
Most importantly, your subscription supports me as an individual creator. You’ll help give me the professional space and freedom to write, speak, teach, and generate even more content.
I’ll have more to share (including pricing) in the coming days. I just wanted to give you a heads up so you can begin thinking about becoming a paid subscriber.
For now, here’s how you can help:
Share this newsletter with like-minded people. There’s a share button at the end of this post, or you can share a previous post with them.
Share on social media. Link to your favorite article or copy and paste a quote from one.
Consider making this newsletter part of your budgeting.
Let me know what kind of content you’d like to see. If you make a comment below, it goes directly to my email and so far I’ve been able to respond personally to everyone who sends me a message.
Thank you for being part of this growing community. Onward!
Congratulations on your PhD, Dr. Tisby! This newsletter, as well as your books, podcast, interviews, and articles have been so influential in my life. How To Fight Racism helped me make a racial justice action plan which has included transferring my kids into a more diverse public school and volunteering there. Thanks to you and your work, our lives are oriented toward racial justice and there’s no turning back! Keep speaking truth courageously; you are making such a difference! “Stand up for justice, stand up for truth, and God will be at your side forever.” (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.)
I have been loving your newsletters and the information you provide is so helpful and thought provoking! You provide a much-needed perspective to the conversation on race and Christianity and I'm so thankful. I'm not sure if this is something you would be interested in doing, but one thing I would love to see is perhaps book reviews or a section with book/podcast/article recommendations, or a couple of helpful links for those of us curious in doing more research? Fortunately we have so many resources available to us now, but finding good, trustworthy sources can be daunting and I often feel as though I'm not sure where to start. It helps to have recommendations from knowledgeable people such as yourself pass along recommendations now and then. Perhaps consider having a small portion of your newsletter set aside for recommendations or things you're currently enjoying? I don't need a lot. Perhaps just one or two of whatever it is that you're currently reading/watching/listening to. Thank you for all of the resources you have provided for us so far! They have been so so helpful. I am grateful for your work. Many thanks, Anna
