Amen Jemar! I interrupted the calls I was making to Senators & Representatives re: the "disappearing" of people to Louisiana and Central America in order to read your message. Thank you for the encouragement, and back to the phones!
I have friends that are in the US legally but Trump has halved their time even though they have documents from the US government saying they are legal for a longer period of time.
Here is one of the things that bothers me the most. They don’t dare to tell church people of their predicament out of fear who may decide to report them if they end up staying in a limbo state while the courts battle it out.
I’ll say it again. They don’t dare to talk to Christians for help for fear that these Christians will report them at some point!!
The only silver lining to this debacle is that it was the Ed- in- Chief of *The Atlantic* that was inadvertently added. It could easily have been a rep from Newsmax (deliberate or not!), and the spinning could've turned positive. (!)
After watching your video this morning I went to the five calls app and made my calls about signal gate. Thank you so much for your faithfulness to the way of Christ
I find the saying on the shavers' T-shirts in the TIME article of interest: "Con mi trabajo, retribuyo a la sociedad". "With my work, I repay society". That's a slogan that could end up being used in this country.
Thanks for standing up for justice for people & against state-sponsored vanishing acts! People did not receive due process; due process is not limited to U.S. citizens. Listening to Dr. Jemar Tisby; I cried. We don't even know who was deported. Now it's time to act.
And I think of Dr. Jemar Tisby sharing this quote by Toni Morrison in the past:
“This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal.” - Toni Morrison
People being abducted in the way the grad student was is such a form of state terror. Added to this are the private prisons that any one of us can end up in. The recent months have seen classic authoritarian actions.
Thanks Jemar for allowing not only the spirit of justice but also the spirit of defiance to mark your path in these days. You have been battle-tested and now you "have nothing to lose" but speak truth. Your courage inspires all of us. May God shield you and your loved ones from the terrible ire of deception interrupted.

Keep speaking up everyone!

Al Capone was taken down because of his taxes. Keep pulling the threads.

Preach...
Not on our watch.
Appreciate your frank insight and raising awareness for the rest of us. Back in school having been introduced to Amnesty International via musicians Sting and Bono, I became a letter writer: https://write.amnestyusa.org/ and learned more about Prisoners of Conscience: https://bidenhumanrightspriorities.amnestyusa.org/prisoners-of-conscience/ I remember being appalled at various countries lack of human rights as highlighted by Human Rights Watch: https://www.hrw.org/about-us Learning about the Venezuelan deportation and recent apprehensions of the young students, brought to mind Sting’s song “They Dance Alone” about the mothers of the “disappeared” in Chile: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/They_Dance_Alone_(Cueca_Solo)

I share a resource for young adult creatives to apply to the Pax Fellowship: https://www.madeforpax.org/apply
Or, help sponsor the young adult creatives
(15 mins later) - Done! Who's next to make calls? :-)
