Voltaire said “Perfect is the enemy of good.” The Democratic Party is not perfect, but it is good in many aspects, and its candidates seem to at least be open to hearing where they can do better. Project 2025 scares the living daylights out of me. How can you be neutral in the face of such a horrific platform?

To profess neutrality is to commit what John Calvin calls a sin of omission...It is to be Lukewarm Laodicians...

Appreciate the spicy writing! I used to vote as an independent; now I take a side intending to vote for the common good of people.

It scares me that the people may favor a dictator spewing racism & falsehoods, risking our foundational, freedoms in our democracy, for thinking that the economy was better under the 45th presidency & would be again.

From race-based chattel slavery to the present election, when will we choose people over financial profit, white superiority, & white Christian nationalism, masked in narrowly selective priorities such as “pro-baby” & “pro-family”? (Documentary “God and Country” featuring Dr. Jemar Tisby too).

What if folks voted without focusing on selective priorities to mask the focus on material wealth & racial superiority?

I have always agreed that not voting helped one party over the other one, but I had not thought that stance might be an indication that you are more concerned about avoiding conflict than promoting justice. I had certainly not thought about the possibility about neutrality could be an idol! After thinking about that, i agree with you, my friend. I have gotten your new book and am looking forward to reading it.

It bothers me that so many young black brothers don’t seem to get it, especially some with college degrees. It’s like they don’t understand the political process mixed in with a little patriarchy.

I’m challenged & compelled to self-examine with listening to “The Spirit of Justice” & today’s reading. For both, I like to listen & then look at the printed words too.

Isaiah 5:7b, “He looked

for justice but saw injustice,

for righteousness, but heard cries of wretchedness.”

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness, who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own opinion and clever in their own sight. Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine, who are fearless at mixing beer, who acquit the guilty for a bribe and deprive the innocent of justice.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭5‬:‭20‬-‭23‬ ‭HCSB‬‬, https://bible.com/bible/72/isa.5.20-23.HCSB
