I enjoyed the discussion. But I would have liked to hear more about how the cultural beliefs underpin the strength of the movement. This would be things like the pilgrims and Thanksgiving dinner, manifest destiny, God and military service, & Patriotic hymns at church on the Fourth of July. Can we talk more about the power of pluralism and diversity in making democracy work?
Thank you for quoting the words of the celebratory creed at the beginning of the Ku Klux Klan. The similarity in their creed and the creed of White Christian Nationalists is scary. I also liked the comeback "Which brand of Christianity are you promoting?" To me that meant "Will (Catholicism, Methodism, Baptist, et.al.) become our national religion?"
