Let's Watch a Movie...and Save Democracy

You're invited to a virtual film screening of the "God & Country" documentary

The documentary film “God and Country” about the real and present danger posed by white Christian nationalism released in select theaters in February.

One review called it,

“a bracing primer on the rise of this political movement that should thoroughly scare the large majority of American adults who don’t embrace it.”

If you weren’t in or near one of the cities that showed the film for a limited time, then you had to wait until it came to streaming services, which it did several weeks later.

But maybe you haven’t made the time or had the opportunity to watch it yet. Maybe you have already seen it but want to watch it again. Maybe you want to watch it with a group. And maybe you want to invite your friends and associates to join you.

I’m hosting a virtual screening of the “God and Country” documentary, and you’re invited!

Here’s what you need to know:

• We’re using a service called Kinema to stream it. Click here to REGISTER.

• The screening will happen in real time on Thursday (4/25) at 8 pm ET. It’s just like going to the movies, but you don’t have to leave your home!

• You’ll be watching with others from all over the country, and we’ll have a live chat going throughout (it’s like you can talk during the movie but no one will tell you “Shhh!”).

• Tickets are $5 to watch the movie and join in the live online chat. You’ll need to register with Kinema and add payment info. It takes less than a minute.

• All you need is a device on which to watch the film. Once it begins, it will play in real time just like going to the movies.

And if you’re a paid subscriber to this Footnotes Substack you will get a special link to the post-screening discussion on Zoom. We’ll see each other face-to-face, and I’ll join you so I can add some thoughts I couldn’t put in the chat and address any lingering questions.
